Site Redesigns and Reworking Existing Pages

So you have a website that you are not happy with and you are looking to have it "fixed". Redesigning an existing site can be even more difficult than just building a website from scratch.

One reason redesigns can be more expensive than a built from scratch site is that the site is already being hosted on a server and chances are it is not going to have a control panel that I am used to using. Working with tools that I am familiar with makes the process easier and quicker.

Someone Else's Thought Process

Finally, every developer has certain techniques he or she chooses to employ. Reworking someone else's code is almost always more difficult that working with code I wrote myself. It is usually difficult enough to rewrite my own code because I have so many sites that utilize different processes, let alone code that follows someone else's thinking. As a result, I prefer to look at the website before even giving a price for a redesign.

One thing is for sure. When considering a redesign, there are some details that need to be considered.
