Web Design, What is It?
The question "what is web design?" has been answered a multitude of ways by web designers. Some refer to the "programming" aspect of a website as web design while others speak of designing as the visual presentation and overall appearance of the site.
Web design consists of many facets. In fact, various descriptions of what the word design encompasses can be applied to the constructing and development of a website.
Static or Dynamic?
Website design, or web design, whichever you prefer, has progressed from static HTML pages to a dynamic, or interactive style in recent years. Hence, the phrase "web design" has come to include the thought of incorporating the various technologies of the Web into the creative process.
CSS, JavaScript, as well as other scripting languages and internet technologies have helped to enhance the meaning of "web design". Nowadays, designers must be well-rounded and be able to grasp the various ways of designing sites and achieving the results their clients want.
Designing for the Future
As the concept of web design continues to evolve, it will be necessary for web designers and development teams to construct websites according to standards. The gap between hobbyist web designers and professional web design specialists seems to be widening. With the implementation of web standards, comes the need for conformation to those standards, something that hobbyists don't necessarily have the time or desire to do.
